Global research and innovation conference 2024

Our universities lie at the heart of the UK’s research and innovation ecosystem, and international collaboration is vital to our global reputation and impact. With a new government in place, it is critical moment to rethink the role international collaboration in research and innovation can play in achieving domestic and foreign policy objectives.

Key questions explored will be:

• How can our global R&I activities help the new government deliver its central priorities of national renewal and economic growth?
• Is there any tension between global R&I to address shared challenges and serving the 'national interest'?
• What is the role of university R&I in supporting the foreign policy objectives of the new government?
• How can we foster truly equitable partnerships that address global challenges?
• How do we best make the case to a new government to support international R&I collaboration - and what do we need to do to maximise our impact?

This conference will convene leaders and experts in global research and innovation to help address these key strategic questions - and to help set the agenda for the new government.
